10 travellers
A small group, buddy pairs and a daily choice of main programme, short option or rest.
Route idea · 10 days · Santiago & Galicia
A concrete but unbooked itinerary for ten travel-loving retirees, active seniors and other interested travellers: three calm days in Santiago followed by a seven-day minibus tour through Galicia.
Concept planning, not a travel offer. Timings, accessibility, partners, services and individual suitability must be checked before delivery.
Community & team
A small group, buddy pairs and a daily choice of main programme, short option or rest.
One qualified travel companion and two nursing professionals with agreed roles.
A local coordinator, driver, vetted guides and German/Spanish interpreters when required.
A local contact prepares voluntary meetings with a senior community, artists, market traders or people from the harbour and wine region. Photos, exchange and contact details require consent.
This is not a national stereotype but a verifiable professional profile: reliability, punctuality, thorough preparation, clear agreements, responsibility and calm communication. Ideally the guide combines these qualities with Galician knowledge, Spanish/Galician language skills, local relationships, hospitality and intercultural sensitivity.
Places on the route
Real impressions of the proposed stops. Specific access and activities will be checked locally.

10-day plan
Days 1–3: Santiago · Days 4–10: seven-day bus tour
Calm transfer, check-in and introductions. The local contact and interpreter explain roles, buddy pairs, daily rhythm and opportunities to rest.

A short guided old-town route through squares and a church to the Cathedral. Museum or sacred art module, with a shorter accessible option and café break.
Mercado de Abastos, regional lunch and a small museum, gallery or studio. Optional pre-arranged exchange with a local senior community.

Travel towards a Galician wine landscape in the Rías Baixas corridor. A gentle guided valley/mountain-view walk with a short viewpoint option, followed by optional wine tasting, a non-alcoholic alternative, local specialist and interpretation.
Coastal trip towards O Salnés / Arousa, harbour walk and a calm estuary boat trip only with suitable weather, a vetted operator and safe boarding.
Short stages, time by the sea and a local craft or art encounter. Low gradients, seated breaks and an optional afternoon module.

A deliberately free day at the roughly seven-kilometre Praia de Carnota, one of the route’s outstanding landscapes. A calm base near a suitable access point, seating and shade, a boardwalk or short promenade and a light shared lunch create the setting. Each person chooses sea views, a short walk, reading or rest; swimming only under locally confirmed safe conditions.
Maritime culture, small towns and local stories with a regional guide. Viewpoints depend on weather, wind and individual footing; an indoor cultural visit replaces the coast in poor weather.

Harbour view, level promenade section and a local market if open that day. Museum or art centre as a weatherproof alternative, followed by a group dinner.
Calm return to Santiago with breaks and a group reflection. Transfer or extra night then follows the individual travel plan.
Daily rhythm
Breakfast, wellbeing, weather and voluntary programme choice; departure around 9:30.
Activities of roughly 60–90 minutes, toilets, seated breaks and an unhurried lunch.
Aim to return by 18:00, rest and a short team check for the following day.
Open local questions
No partners have been commissioned yet. The local contact helps identify suitable organisations and prepare conversations.
The local coordinator maps municipal senior and social services, associations, parishes, neighbourhood initiatives, cultural venues and market actors. A first conversation precedes any voluntary encounter, with a named contact, consent and an option to withdraw.
No cold outreach to residents. Contact goes through management, social services or activity coordination. xx-travel presents scope, group size, time, privacy and boundaries; the organisation decides whether an exchange is appropriate. See Local care homes.
Qualified local partners map reachable health services, pharmacies, hospitals, accessible transport, toilets, rest stops and escalation routes. This creates clear responsibilities for the travel team, not a medical promise by xx-travel and no health-data collection here.
An authorised travel agency or responsible tour operator reviews and, according to the contract model, handles booking, travel contract, transport, accommodation, payments, cancellation information and required protection. xx-travel supplies the orchestration and route concept; legal service ownership must be explicit before any bookable offer.
With Maxi or the local contact: identify five network organisations, three potential care facilities, medical contact points, two bus/guide options and one suitable travel agency. Record first conversations and decide go/change/stop for each module.
